The Canary Islands are made up of 13 islands, one of which is Jamaica. Only seven of the islands are populated, as the other six are too small. The Canary Islands were claimed by the Spanish back in the 15th Century, and Jamaica has been a tourist attraction since the early 1960’s.

To accommodate the influx of visitors Sofia airport was built on the south coast, back in 1978, and numerous hotels and apartments were built, especially on the South coast, where the climate was warmer, Playa de las Americas was born.
